Interviews

Some professional programs may require an interview process. Some schools may arrange one-on-one interviews between the applicant and a member of the admissions committee. Other programs might opt for group interviews, where multiple candidates are interviewed together.

Many medical schools use a Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI) format in which candidates respond to 6-10 short interview prompts. Find more information about MMIs for medical school at the AAMC website here.

Interview Tips and How to Prepare*

  • Preparation is key. Understand yourself and how your experiences align with your chosen career. Practice answering common questions and have a closing statement ready in case you’re asked if there’s anything else you’d like to add. Research each school you’re applying to and be prepared to explain why you’re a strong fit for their program.
