Exam Prep
Most health profession schools require a standardized entrance exam. Keep in mind that exam scores typically expire after 3-5 years, so it’s important to check with your institution before applying.
Typical Standardized Exams:
- Dental: Dental Admission Test (DAT)
- Medical: Medical College Admission Test (MCAT)
- Optometry: Optometry Admission Test (OAT)
- Physician Assistant (not required everywhere): Physician Assistant College Admissions Test (PA-CAT)
- Some others:
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to preparing for an entrance exam. Some students opt for prep courses, while others prefer self-study using online resources or prep books. Each method has its benefits and drawbacks, so it’s important to choose the approach that best suits your learning style and needs. For additional information, feel free to discuss study resources or prep courses with your Health Professions Advisor.
